Going After Strange Flesh
Could you be going after strange flesh?
By Brother Mike (4-30-15)
It has been thought that the going after strange [different] flesh referred to in this verse refers to the going after homosexual flesh, men after men, and women after women. But, a careful examination of this in the light of other scripture says something different. We read in 1Corinthians 15:39,
1Cor. 15:39 All flesh is not the same flesh: but there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds .
Here we have listed the different kinds of flesh: there is one kind of flesh of men, another flesh of beasts, another of fishes, and another of birds. We notice that there are listed four types of flesh, which emphasizes that these are the four types of flesh worldwide (see
Meaning to Bible Number 4
Ge 2:23 . . . This is now bone of my bones, and flesh of my flesh: she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man .
And, what we can conclude from this, then, is that going after strange [different] flesh cannot be referring to homosexuals, male going after male; nor female going after female because these would be going after human flesh, whether male or female, and going after human flesh is not going after strange [different] flesh, but it would be going after the same flesh. For a human to go after strange [different] flesh, they would have to go after the flesh other than that of a human such as the flesh of beasts, or fishes, or birds, for other than human flesh, these are the other types of flesh that a human could go after. So, we must conclude, then, that the going after strange flesh by the inhabitants of Sodom and Gomorrah and by its surrounding cities is not referring to going after people in homosexual relations, but it is going after strange [different] flesh such as the flesh of beasts, or birds, or fishes.
Now, the idea of going after the flesh of beasts, or birds, or fishes - strange [different] flesh - is the worshipping of false Gods. Instead of having gone after the one true flesh of the God-man (Christ) who with His flesh atoned for the sins of the elect on the cross at Calvary in 33 AD, they (Sodom and Gomorrah, and its surrounding cities) went after the flesh of the creation itself, namely the flesh of beasts, and birds, and fishes, which could not atone for their sins, but their thinking became vain, and they worshipped the creation instead of the Creator.
Now, a very serious question that can arise from all of this is this: since, spiritually speaking, to go after true flesh is to go after the flesh of Christ in His atonement for our sins in 33 AD, doesn't this mean that to go after strange flesh is to go after a different flesh atonement such as the supposed atonement of Christ before the foundation of the world? If so, then the going after strange flesh that the people of Sodom and Gomorrah went after could be a picture of what would happen in our day, namely people going after the supposed atonement of Christ before the foundation of the world. This would be the worship of a false God, and the worship of the creation and not the Creator, for it is a doctrine created by the minds of men, and not the mind of Yahweh. (see
