Christ gives special care and protection from Satan to the elect unto a local church to be nourished

INTRODUCTION

I this study, we will see how Christ gave special care and protection from Satan to His eternal church, the elect, as He led them to one of His local churches to be nourished throughout the Church Age. Although when Satan perceived that he had been cast out of heaven to the earth after the cross, he persecuted Christ's eternal church, the elect, once each one of the elect were eternally saved in Jesus Christ during the Church Age, Christ gave each one of them special care and protection from the full persecution of Satan, for Satan knew that the best way to get back at God for having cast him out of heaven at the cross was to hurt God's eternal church, the elect, in any way possible. If he could greatly hurt them, he knew it would greatly and directly hurt God.

Now, may our great Lord and Master, Jesus Christ, who gave special care and protection to His elect during the Church Age, assure our hearts that He continues to give us special care and protection during Judgment Day that we are know in, amen.

Revelation 12:13

13 And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man [child].

It is not surprising that when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man [child]. The woman, of course, refers to the eternal church, the elect. Remember what we previously learned back in verse 1 of Revelation 12 that the woman clothed with the sun was a picture of the eternal church clothed in the salvation of Jesus Christ? The word woman can just as well be translated as wife, and the word wife refers to the wife of Christ as we had learned in Ephesians 5 where we read,

22 Wives, submit yourselves unto your own husbands, as unto the Lord .
23
For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church [Christ's wife]
: and he is the saviour of the body .
24 Therefore as the church [the wife of Christ] is subject unto Christ [the husband of the Church] , so let the wives be to their own husbands in everything .
25 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ [the husband of the Church] also loved the church [His wife] , and gave himself for it
26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word ,

27 That he [Christ] might present it to himself a glorious church [a glorious wife] , not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish .
28 So ought men to love their wives as their own bodies. He that loveth his wife loveth himself
29 For no man ever yet hated his own flesh; but nourishes and cherishes it, even as the Lord [Christ] , the church [Christ's wife]:
30 For we [the Church] are members of his body, of his flesh, and of his bones .
31 For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh .
32 This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ [who is the husband of the Church] and the church [who is Christ's wife].

Thus, we see that the word translated as woman in our verse that reads, And when the dragon saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman which brought forth the man [child], is better translated as the wife who represents the wife of Christ who is the eternal church, the elect. So now, our verse reads, And when the dragon [Satan] saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the wife [the wife of Christ who is the eternal church, the elect] which brought forth the man child [Jesus Christ]. And, by the way, the word child as in man child is not in the Greek, so our verse is even more literally translated like this: And when the dragon [Satan] saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the wife [the wife of Christ who is the eternal church, the elect] which brought forth the man [Jesus Christ].

But now, how could the eternal church, the elect, have brought forth the man, Jesus Christ? I thought it was Mary who brought forth the Christ. Yes, Mary physically gave birth to the Christ (and, by the way, Mary was not sinless to have given birth to Christ ), but the eternal church, the elect, that Mary herself was a part brought forth or gave birth to the Christ in a metaphorical way as well. The eternal church, the elect, brought forth the Christ in the sense that He had to come forth to earth to pay for their sins. So, it was the eternal church's sins, including Mary's sins, that brought forth the man, Jesus Christ, for unless Christ had come forth to this earth to be crucified on behalf of the eternal church, the elect, for their sins, none of them could be eternally saved. Mary was a sinner just like you and I , and so she should never have been venerated, prayed to, or lifted above any of the other elect who are all equally Saints by calling through the shed blood of Christ alone and not of themselves. In fact, no people become Saints based on the deeds they do or have done, for they could never be perfect enough in God's eyes, and no people become Saints by the deeming so of the Catholic Church or any other church. But all we who have been saved in Jesus Christ are Saints based on the perfect deeds of Christ alone and through the effectual calling of God alone. Indeed, all the praise and glory must go to Christ alone, or it is idolatry, which, sad to say, people in the Catholic Church commit all the time by lifting up Mary as having been sinless while on earth and making her a Co-mediator and Co-redeemer with Christ. They even pray to Mary and dead Saints as if they were somehow like gods themselves, which goes directly against holy scripture, which says,

Page 3

1Ti 2:5 For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus ...

To think that somehow Mary is more compassionate than Christ and, therefore, more likely to hear or better able to pass on your prayers to Christ or God is idolatry. Remember, we who have the Holy Spirit already have the best person praying for us as we read in Romans 8,

Ro 8:26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit Himself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered

Thus, we have no need for Mary, dead Saints, or anyone else in heaven, except Christ and the Holy Spirit, to help us with our prayers. To even think that Mary or dead Saints in heaven could deal with billions of prayers all at once is not only idolatry but absolute foolishness, not to mention all the vain repetition of prayers that Catholics do. Since Christ is the one and only mediator between God and mankind, we should only be praying through Christ via the Holy Spirit to God. Christ can handle all the prayers better than anyone else possibly could because He is God, and God, by definition, does everything infinitely better than anyone else possibly could.

Well now, our verse states, And when the dragon [Satan] saw that he was cast unto the earth, he persecuted the woman [the eternal church, the elect] .

Yes, when Satan perceived that he was cast to the earth from heaven; that God had won back from him a people for Himself at the cross; that God had won back from him the heaven and earth at the cross to be transformed to an incorruptible heaven and earth on the Last Day; yes, when Satan perceived that God had guaranteed, at the cross, the eternal damnation for Satan and his angels and his unsaved fallen people to be carried out on the Last Day, Satan persecuted the eternal church, the elect.

Now, why would Satan have especially targeted the eternal church, the elect? I mean, all of creation was created by God and so destroying any part it would be an attack on God. But Satan had already guaranteed the destruction of God's creation when he instigated the fall of Adam and Eve. By getting them to sin in the garden, the whole creation of God fell from a state of incorruption to a state of corruption that would eventually grow old and die. And although God won back His creation at the cross, Satan knew that it would not be changed back to a state of incorruption until the Last Day, which is also when Satan, his angels, and his unsaved people would be eternally destroyed. Thus, Satan likely realized that there was nothing he could do further to destroy God's creation because he had already forced the creation into a state of corruption to slowly grow old and die, and even if he now worked to destroy God's creation faster, it would still eventually be transformed into a state of incorruption on the Last Day when Satan could do no more damage. So, ever since the cross, Satan knew he could not win!

Page 4

But what if Satan focused his energy toward making the lives of God's elect here on earth extremely difficult and even miserable at times by persecution of every kind such as constant spiritual attacks and warfare, attacks against their finances, attacks through coworkers or employers, attacks against the elect's health, attacks on their marriages, attacks on their children or loved ones, attacks through their children or loved ones (remember, Christ taught that a man's foes shall be they of his own household), attacks on their churches when the elect were still in churches, attacks from men (remember, Christ said to the elect, ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake), attacks especially targeted on the elect's weaknesses, or whatever Satan, his demons, and unsaved people can do to bring tribulation, suffering, pain or even death to God's elect. And we read in Ephesians 5,

Eph 5:30 For we [the elect] are members of his body [Christ's body]
, of his flesh, and of his bones .

Therefore, since the elect are members of Christ's body, of His flesh, and of His bones, Satan knew that if He persecuted the elect to bring tribulation, suffering, and pain to them, he would also be bringing the same upon God, for the elect's physical bodies of flesh and bones were and are the flesh and bones of Jesus Christ Himself, and Jesus Christ is God. So, whatever type of attack that Satan could bring upon the elect to cause them distress, tribulation, suffering, or pain would directly cause Jesus Christ distress, tribulation, suffering, or pain.

This is why when Satan saw that he had lost the war in heaven and was cast from heaven to the earth with absolute hatred of God, that he persecuted the wife of Christ, namely the eternal church, the elect. By doing this, Satan knew that it was now the best way to hurt God for having taken away his rule in heaven over fallen mankind and the fallen creation that he had won the right to rule over in the beginning. So, is there any wonder why God's elect often have more hardships and tribulations than others, especially those who walk closest to Christ? Compared to the elect, unsaved man has it easy in this life, for unlike the elect, they normally have no ongoing spiritual attacks from Satan and his demons; their sinful flesh does not wage war against their spirits because their spirits agree with their flesh; and they love this world, and the world loves them but hates the elect. And Christ said to us in John 15,

18  If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me before it hated you .

Now we begin to see why the lives of the true elect can be so difficult! it is not just because of the normal hardships that everyone to some extent must endure in this life, for in the world everyone has some degree of tribulation, but also because the elect's own sinful flesh, Satan, his demons, and the billions of unsaved people that he rules over on earth, are all predisposed to causing the elect hardships, suffering, sorrow, and pain as a way of doing the same to Christ to get back at God. Indeed, the flesh of the elect, Satan, and his angels can no longer hope to win because they were defeated at the cross and Satan knows it,

Page 5

but they can still cause Christ a lot of pain on their way out by persecuting His elect who are Christ's very own flesh and bones. This is why the apostle Paul was able to say,

Col 1:24 Who now rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up that which is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh for his body's sake, which is the church

That is, Paul is saying that his own sufferings fill up or fulfill the afflictions of Christ, and we now know why that is: it is because the flesh and bones of Paul were the flesh and bones of Christ, for Paul was of Christ's body as are all the elect. So, when the flesh or bones of Paul were afflicted, so was Christ afflicted. And these afflictions or sufferings of Christ that were brought about in Paul were what was left behind of the sufferings or afflictions of Christ that Paul was called to endure. In fact, each one of God's elect have been called to sufferings and afflictions in this life that are the sufferings and afflictions of Christ left behind by Him because when we were spiritually saved, regenerated, or born again by grace alone and by the gift of the Holy Spirit by May 21, 2011, Christ came to reside in us, and so our bodies became His very flesh and blood, and so our sufferings and afflictions became His as well as our own. Remember what we read in Philippians 1,

29 For unto you [the elect] it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake ;
30
Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me .

And that same conflict the elect still have in common with the apostle Paul is the choice to either escape all the sufferings we have been called to endure in this life by passing on to be with the Lord in heaven, which would be far better than remaining in this life, or to continue in this life to fulfill the sufferings of Christ who is in us by continuing to do our part for the sake of His kingdom and body, the elect. Like Paul said in Philippians 1 when he was in prison fulfilling the suffering of Christ through his own suffering, for his flesh and bones were of Christ who was in him, he said,

21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain .
22
But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour [that Christ was being preached -see verse 18] : yet what I shall choose I wot not [I know not].
23 For I am in a strait betwixt two [I am being pressed by the two] , having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better :
24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you
25 And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith ;
26 That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again .

Likewise, we, the elect, who have been called to not only believe in Christ but to fulfill the sufferings of Christ through our own sufferings, although we are conflicted at difficult times within as to whether we should stay in or leave this pit of hell on earth, we must not yet choose to depart to be with Christ when we experience such tribulations, hardships,

Page 6

or sufferings, which would be far better than remaining in this life, but we must choose to remain in this life to fulfill our calling until the Lord Himself takes us home, for only as each member fulfills his or her part in service to Christ's body may our furtherance and our joy be made complete in Jesus Christ. Therefore, we should rejoice in our sufferings for Christ,

17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory ;
18
While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal (2Corinthians 4:17-18).

Revelation 12:14:

14 And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent

The first part of this verse read, And to the woman were given two wings of a great eagle. We already have learned in the previous verse that the woman is better translated as the wife, for she is the wife of Christ who is the eternal church, the elect. But what does the great eagle represent? Remember when we studied Revelation 4 in which there were four beasts (better translated as four living creatures) full of eyes before and behind in the midst of the throne, and round about the throne ( Revelation 4:6 ) ...

and based on Ezekiel 1 where Ezekiel saw visions of the four living creatures, we learned that they were defined as being visions of God (Ezekiel 1:1). Thus, we learned that the four living creatures each symbolize God Himself.

Then, in Revelation 4:7 , we looked more closely at each of the four living creatures, and the fourth one of those living creatures was described as a flying eagle. We read, ...
and the fourth beast [fourth living creature] was like a flying eagle. But why a flying eagle? As we consider an eagle, we discover that it was an unclean bird that the Israelites were not to eat. We read of this in Leviticus 11 where we read,

13 And these are they which ye shall have in abomination among the fowls; they shall not be eaten, they are an abomination: the eagle, and the ossifrage, and the ospray ...

Yet, how can the fourth beast that we know represents God because the four living creatures in Ezekiel Chapter 1 are said to be visions of God be like an unclean bird? The only way this can be is if we see this unclean eagle as symbolizing Christ who became sin (unclean) for us. That is, He took all our sins upon Himself as He went to the cross and so became unclean for us to save us from our sins. As the scripture declares,

2Co 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin [unclean] for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him .

Thus, we see that the fourth beast who pictures God is a picture of Jesus Christ Himself who paid for our sins.

Page 7

Yet, not only does the flying eagle picture Christ as our atonement, but it pictures the love of Christ in the care for and protection of His people. We can see this in such verses as Deuteronomy 32 where we read,

11 As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings : 12 So the LORD alone did lead him [Jacob], and there was no strange god with him

And, Yahweh says in Exodus 19,

Ex 19:4 Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself .

Thus, we see that the fourth beast which was like a flying eagle not only represents Christ, but also the loving care of Christ for His people, which brings us back to our verse that states,

Re 12:14 And to the wife [the eternal Church, the elect] were given two wings of a great eagle, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished for a time, and times, and half a time, from the face of the serpent .

Now we know what the two wings of a great eagle symbolize! The great eagle, of course, represents Christ Himself who was sacrificed for us as we previously learned, and in that His two wings were given to His wife (to the eternal church, His elect) symbolizes that His special care was given to His eternal church, the elect.

The wings symbolize Christ's special care, and in that the number two is being feature in the two wings emphasizes His church, the elect (see Number 2 ), whom Christ's special care (His wings) is given to.

But now, we read that Christ's special care was given to His church, the elect, at that time after the cross when Satan was cast out of heaven to the earth, that she might fly into the wilderness, into her place, where she is nourished ... from the face of the serpent. Obviously, it is not saying that the church would literally fly in the air into the wilderness (that is absurd, but magnifies the problems that those have who try to take everything literally as many of the churches do), but it means that by the special care of Christ, the eternal church, His elect, would be kept safe and protected by Christ's special care from the face of the serpent - the full anger and wrath of Satan - until each one of the elect, after having been eternally saved in Jesus Christ through the gospel, were brought to their place into the wilderness (the world) in and under the authority of a local Christian church or congregation where they would be nourished.

Finally, we are told that the wife (the eternal church, the elect) would be nourished for a time, and times, and half a time. A time refers to 1 time; and times refers to 2 times; and half a time refers to 0.5 a time, so 1 + 2 + 0.5 = 3.5 times. This period is symbolic of the entire Church Age from Pentecost in 33 AD until it ended on May 21, 1988, when the Holy Spirit began to be removed from all the churches so that Satan, the Antichrist, the counterfeit Christ, could take up his rule in the churches to begin judgment on the house of God,

Page 8

for judgment must begin at the house of God (1Peter 4:17). And remember, we had also discovered in Revelation 12:6 and in Revelation 11:3 that the Church Age was symbolized by 1,260 days, which, by the way, is 3.5 years. So, the 3.5 times = the 3.5 years; they are both symbolic of the Church Age.

CONCLUSION

In this study, we learned that Christ gave special care and protection from Satan to His eternal church, the elect, during the entire Church Age. From the time that each one of His elect were saved, Christ guided, cared for, and protected them from the devil, and He guided them unto their place into a local congregation where the Holy Spirit would nourish, support, protect, and strengthen them to fulfill Christ's calling for them until the Holy Spirit began to depart out from all the churches at the end of the Church Age on May 21, 1988 so that the Antichrist, Satan, the counterfeit Christ could then take rule over all the churches as judgment against them. With no more Holy Spirit in the churches, the elect obeyed Christ's command to depart out from all the churches, which they had done by May 21, 2011 when Judgment Day began. Christ is now specially caring for His church, the elect, outside of the churches because all the churches, without exception, have come under God's judgment until the relatively soon to come Last Day when all those still in a church and all the billions of unsaved people in the world will be cast into the Lake of Fire forever. The elect, on the other hand, will be taken to heaven.

We also learned that when Satan perceived that he was cast from heaven to the earth after the cross, he persecuted the eternal church, the elect. He persecuted them because he realized that by bringing trouble of every sort into the lives of the elect, it would bring great pain and suffering to them, which would also bring great suffering to Christ because the flesh and bones of the elect had become the flesh and bones of Christ when they were eternally saved in Jesus Christ. So, Satan set out to hurt the eternal church, the elect, in every way that he could. And do you suppose that Satan was out to hurt the elect more then, or now? That's right, now! He knows his time is almost completely over, so he is out to hurt God more than ever by trying to cause the elect, especially those who are being faithful to Yahweh by declaring judgment upon all the churches and the world, in any way possible whether by tribulation, affliction, torture, or death. But God is giving special care to His eternal church, the elect, for He would say to us,

Ex 19:4 Ye have seen what I did unto the Egyptians, and how I bare you on eagles' wings, and brought you unto myself

How much more now will He bare us on eagles' wings until we are brought unto Christ in heaven, for if Yahweh brought His earthly and temporal people in Egypt to Himself in the land of Canaan, how much more will He finish bringing His heavenly and eternal people to the new heaven and earth to be created from this burned up heaven and earth on the Last Day.

Page 9

Now, as we rejoice in God's special care for us, and until the next time, may Yahweh bless thee, and keep thee: Yahweh make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: Yahweh lift up his countenance upon thee, and G thee peace (Numbers 6:24-26).
